Child Find/Support for Students with Disabilities:
At LaVille Community Schools, we are responsible for finding and supporting every child (ages 3–22) in our community who may have a disability. Under federal and state law (IDEA and Article 7), every eligible child is entitled to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE).
How Eligibility Works:
- Criteria: A student must have a documented disability and need specialized help to succeed in school.
- The Evaluation: Eligibility is determined through a thorough evaluation. Both parents and schools have the right to request this process.
- No Cost: There is no charge for evaluations or for the special education services an eligible student receives.
We want to ensure your child is in a setting where they can truly thrive. While certain specialized programs are hosted at specific locations rather than every school, our administrators will partner with you to find the placement that offers the best fit for your student’s educational journey.
If you have concerns about your child’s development or learning, please reach out to their teacher or school principal to start a conversation.
